SOLo Lounge Table

Here's an expensive gadget/piece of furniture by Intelligent Forms called the SOLo Lounge Table.

SOLo Lounge Table

Here's the cool thing about it. The table top is actually a solar panel covered in tempered glass. It can harness ~73 kilowatt hours of solar energy annually. The site goes on to say that this provides the amount of power equivalent to over 100 iPod or mobile phone charges per day, 40 Iphone charges per day, or 3 laptop charges per day. It also includes a USB plugin as well as a lighter and 3 electrical outlets. During the night time hours, internal LEDs under the tempered glass emit light.

A cool but expensive outdoor piece. The Intelligent Forms web site shows the MSRP as $14,000 for the build to order table. Here are a few more pictures

Subway Soulja Girl

I'm sure most of you have already seen this video as it has already made it's rounds through the internet in the last few weeks.

Here's a little background on the video. It shows a teenager screaming and yelling Soulja Boy lyrics and obsceneties at an elerdy woman before someone finally decides they've had enough, tells her to shut up, and grabs her by the weave. She then threatens to "President Charley" (press charges) and then gets off the train.

<object width="325 height="299">

SALAD!Here's a little twist in the story. She now has an arrest warrant out for her because of this.
Police in Atlanta’s public transportation have issued a warrant for the arrest of a young woman known as “Soulja Girl” after she was seen violently rebuking an elderly woman on a subway line.

The woman was seen screaming on the train at the elderly woman while reciting lyrics to the rapper Soulja Boy. The woman is seen on a widely-viewed video screaming, “Yaaa, n***a, yaaa” and “I’ma beat you’re a** on this train.”

She also called the senior citizen a hoe and a b***h and threatened to kill her.

Wanda Y. Dunham, the chief of police for Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), issued a statement requesting help in arresting the female.

A MARTA representative that the person in the video is indeed the same person sought by police.

“MARTA police were notified about this video last Friday and launched an immediate and aggressive investigation into the incident,” said Dunham said in a statement. “The tipster also indicated the suspect has been known to ride Bus Route 22. MARTA police were able to positively identify the individual allegedly involved in this incident and have secured a warrant for her arrest.”

The sensational event occurred at the East Lake Station, which is where the suspect exited the train after the female berated the elderly patron.

One of the men objecting to her actions on the train yanked at Soulja Girl’s weave after she accused him of raping her. Shortly thereafter, the aggressive female exited the train. Dunham attempted to quell any concerns for public safety.

“We want to assure the public that this is an extremely isolated incident and that customer safety and security are our highest priorities,” the MARTA Chief of Police said. “We regret that any customer had to endure such harassment while using our system. I also wish the many citizens who witnessed this incident would have contacted the MARTA police so that we could have responded to this situation immediately. We are asking that anyone who witnessed this incident please come forward to provide additional first hand information, which may lead to additional charges against the suspect.”

MARTA police urge customers and witnesses to help by calling the MARTA Police Detectives at (404) 848-4911
lol

Stimulus payments with taxes filed on TurboTax Online

It looks like if you filed your taxes this year through TurboTax online, you'll be waiting a while longer than originally anticipated for your stimulus check. Here is some information I found on the TurboTax web site about stimulus payment with taxes filed through TurboTax Online. Here's the skinny
IMPORTANT -- Using "Refund Transfer" with Santa Barbara Bank & Trust could affect when you get your rebate

Even if you have received or will receive your tax refund by direct deposit to your bank account using Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, the IRS will not do the same for your tax rebate. It will mail your rebate instead. This means if you had TurboTax take out your filing fees from your tax refund, rather then paying them yourself via credit card, you'll be getting your stimulus check by mail.

This applies only if you used the "refund transfer" service when filing. The service lets you pay for your tax preparation and/or e-filing from your refund proceeds, for an additional fee, rather than use a credit card.
Basically, even if you received your refund through direct deposit, your stimulus payment will be coming through snail mail.

Here are the dates for the payments on the IRS Stimulus Payment Schedule.

Don't forget about the 2008 Run for the Zoo this Sunday, May 4th, 2008. The weather is going in the high 70s and partly cloudy.

Illegal Street Racing in Albuquerque

KOBTV is going to be airing a news piece tonight on the 10 o' clock news about illegal street racing in Albuquerque. Being an avid car enthusiast I know a lot of this actually does go on here in the Duke City.

The gripe I have about their news story (just from the previews so far) is the dramatic spin that they are putting on the clip already. The preview shows some street racing clips that were sped up to make it seem like the cars were going insanely fast (or faster than they were actually going anyway). Stories like this are on the news whenever summer starts to roll around, so it wasn't unexpected for them to be having a story like this during this time of the year. Remember however, there are lots of LEGAL events held here in Albuquerque for auto enthusiasts. RacingSouthwest.com can direct you to the dates and times of these events. Everything from auto cross, drag racing, off-road events, etc. Albuquerque does have a great auto enthusiast community and not everyone races on the street, so don't let the KOBTV story skew your view on the subject too much.

Check out the KOBTV story for yourself. The comments were taken down from the page with the video, but they are still available on Topix.
